OK....so what's proper to see on my credit reports during my 13?

So...now that I'm in a 13 a few months...I gulped and ordered my credit reports. While I had a very good record of paying...it looks like my score took a pretty good hit. While I'm not too concerned right now, as I don't want or "need" credit at this time, I'm wondering if the reportings are proper.

I've read a lot of threads, but it seems that most pertain to 7's. I've researched the sticky's as well on the forum homepage.

As far as what should be reported...is it proper for "bankruptcy" or "chargeoff" or any other reference to bk to be listed in the report? The reason why I'm inquiring is b/c I've seen a few threads that advise that such postings are illegal, but I'm thinking that's only after post-discharge?

Not too sure, so hopefully someone can clarify. I know it makes sense to be able to see the bk on the reports....just wanted to put the question out there. Are there any inappropriate types of reporting that one would see during the pendency of a 13?

    Thanks for reading the rant.

It really makes no sense to work too hard on your credit reports during your Chapter 13. You can, but the chances of any changes really staying put are very small and the old information will revert right back a few months later. Unless there is some reason you really need to clean up things right now (i.e., identity theft, fraud, duplicate account listings, etc.), let a year or so go by and pull your reports then and go over things as you have just recently filed. During that time the Chapter 13 will start to get listed correctly on many accounts although there are some creditors who never get anything right even if you dispute it several times. You can then dispute the ones still showing incorrectly to be shown as being including in your Chapter 13. After discharge, pull your reports again and then really start cleaning up. Please note that it is going to be an ongoing frustrating process to keep things correct even after discharge. We were discharged in 8/06 and up until just recently have been disputing items that were once correctly changed but keep reverting back to incorrect information. At one point, several creditors had us listed as filing a Chapter 7 instead of a Chapter 13 and this was after our discharge.

I've let things go since early this year since the BK will come off our reports this month (7 years have already gone by for us) and next month I will pull everything to start getting off what has not yet been removed (giving them some time to do it).

    Best of luck to you....

I filed a 13 back in November and I just checked out my credit score. In Feb of 2007 I had 750 score, in April of 2008 I had a score of 680. And now after my bankruptcy it's 610. I'm surprised it hasn't dropped more than that, but it did show I had filed.
