my trustee has a bunch of debts listed as contigent on his website. What is that? One of those debts is a $5000 claim the IRS withdrew for 2002.

According to http://www.abankruptcylawyer.net/Contingent_Debt.html , "Contingent debt is debt that is not fixed and specific at the present time. It is dependent upon the occurence of some other event to establish the obligation for payment." The Moran Law bk website http://www.moranlaw.net/glossary.htm explains contingent as "Used to describe debts that are not fixed in right at the time, but are dependent on some other event happening to fix the liability."Originally posted by hughthehand View Postmy trustee has a bunch of debts listed as contigent on his website. Does this make any sense given the specific debts (including the IRS debt) you see listed as 'contingent' on your trustee's website?Last edited by lrprn; 06-07-2009, 06:21 PM.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
