I may be leaving California and moving to Washington state within the next 1-2 years. Anyone know what will happen to my Chapter 13 plan if I do that?

I too, am relocating with my job in midplan. I am moving from Illinois to Kentucky and as part of the move, the Army, thru DNRP, is buying my house. My concern is that the buyout offer won't be as much as what I owe on the home. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Could I short sell with Chase? I am 36 months into a 60 month plan with 0% unsecured (all secured, home and cars).

You should immediately notify your attorney, the bankruptcy court, and the chapter 13 trustee in writing of your new address. Most communications in a chapter 13 case are by mail, and if you fail to receive an order of the court or a notice from the chapter 13 trustee because of a faulty address, your case may be dismissed.Originally posted by Scoutitout View PostI may be leaving California and moving to Washington state within the next 1-2 years. Your Ch 13 payments continue on just as they were set at confirmation. All you are doing is sending them from a new state.
You may have significant financial changes when you move - higher or lower rent, higher or lower utilities, increased or decreased income, increased or decreased living expenses.....you get the picture. If things change too much one way or the other, speak to your attorney to see if it's necessary to notify your trustee about the changes.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Be sure to give your attorney plenty of notice because you are going to need your trustee's prior permission to do anything with any of your assets when you move.Originally posted by cubfan300 View PostI too, am relocating with my job in midplan.
