closing taking a long time

grrrrrrrrrr............
i sent my trustee an email asking why he is taking is damn sweet time. meanwhile my chrysler won't update with a zero balance until my case is closed!

It often takes 12-24 months before an asset case is closed. There is an awful lot of paperwork and court approvals that need to be obtained. Note that the Trustee doesn't get paid until after the Court approves everything, so he/she has an incentive to get this done quickly...but their quickly and your quickly are many months apart.

Sometimes they get busy. I had to call my clerk and she did it ont he phone.

Soe are closed the same day, some 1 week later, some 2 years later. Depends on the case and if assets or peculariaties are involved.

Are you still seeing many Old Law No-Asset Ch 7 cases hanging around? I am still no-asset, discharged back in 3/06, still open due to lack of a "no distribution report" from the trustee. The last update on PACER was the discharge notice, March 2006.

My lawyer says don't bother the trustee, so of course, I haven't. But the time is just dragggging along...

Your file is probably sitting in some backroom somewhere. Not like they go to work every morning, and first thing they do is 'process' your case.

Govt employees are notorious for being slackers. I'd call them up, and tell the clerk about the situation. It's the only way for them to make a note to finish the case today. Otheriwse it'll just sit-there, til their 'clean-up' day.

It works kinda like other govt agencies.

Unfortunately, yes. Here in Maryland, it normally takes 12-24 months to administer and close an asset case.

Chapter 7 Trustees aren't government employees, they are private attorneys.

does anybody know how long it runs in colorado to close an assest case.
My trouble is with our mortage company we have to send our house payment to Mortage company bankrucpty dept. I canot pay over the phone or on line or have anything pre set up until my case is closed. Mortage Company said once our case is close I will recive paperwork and can pay like the old days. Heres hoping Colorado only takes a year. Will be year Oct 14th.
