    Telephonic hearings for 341 meetings

    Hi All:

I decided to post this as there have been several questions on and off about 'Telephonic Hearings' prior to the scheduled 341 meeting.

These are really no 'big deal', it is a 'Dress Rehearsal' for you and your trustee prior to your actual 341 meeting. Usually, the trustee does not even attend--the hearing will be administered by a clerk in the trustee's office.

However, before you think you can blow this off, DO NOT DO IT. If the trustee in your district requires this, then do it. Usually your attorney will sit in attendance as well, so that is an hour out of his/her day that will be applied to the fee you originally paid.

You will be sworn in and asked all the usual questions. This is actually a good thing, because if anything is missing that the trustee wants to see or know, you will find this out now, and have a week to correct it.

We learned that we had to bring a copy of our Marriage License with us in addition to the DL and SS cards, to our actual 341.

Other than that, don't worry too much. This seems to be a Florida Middle District thing. I have seen little from other states and districts that indicate they follow the same practices.

Good luck to all of you.
