exemptions - looking for info please.

I am trying to find a place where I can compare Virginia's personal property exemptions with the federal government.

I only have 1000 in assets and that is things like clothes alittle furniture and like $100 in the bank.

I couldn't afford a lawyer and I have to get this filed on Friday the 5th because on the 8th there is a hearing to get my wages garnished. I have all of the necessary paperwork completed, all I have left to do is the schedules. I know I have 15 days to turn those in.

    My questions are:

Where can I find the info needed to complete Schedule C?

How does garnisment work? If we show up what chances to we have of not getting this done except with filed BK papers in hand? Also, they put on the form the name of my former employer. If the garnishment is approved, will they be able to do my new employer too?

I only make 1200 a month, if the garnish my wages I am in big trouble.

    Here is a good website:

Virginia bankruptcy exemptions. Find out the property you can keep after filing bankruptcy in Virginia.

It looks like all of your property is exempt - assuming you don't own your home.

If you have a Debit Card, the place I would look is on PACER.

With a Debit Card, you can get immediate access to PACER. You could look at how attnys filed other people's Schedule C's in your area. You'd get to see what Statute Code was applied to cars, furniture, clothes, and such.

I know PACER costs, but at this point, you won't be billed until sometime way up into April for and charges you run up now.
