    New Job Question

OK, got my new job which is great, passed all of the requirements for them to hire me. Been on the job for two weeks now (filed chapter 7 over a year ago) andI'm required to get an American Express Corporate card for travel expense, etc. I'm in sales.............I sent my application as requested to our
internal dept. that handles the accounts.

I know AE will turn me down even though its a company credit card.....can the company release me based on not (possibly) being able to qualify for this card ?

Honestly, I do not think they will turn you down. There have been several people on this forum who have had BK's but were able to get corporate credit cards.

As for them letting you go...I don't think they will.

Agree with HHM. If your company guarantees your card will be paid, then it likely won't be a problem.

A caution: do avoid putting any non-company-related, personal charges on your corporate card, even if your company allows this, until after your case is closed. My corporate card (not AmEx) told me that if they saw personal charges on my corporate card during our Ch 13, they would cancel my card immediately. Don't know if AmEx would have that same viewpoint or not - just something to keep in mind.

Even if the worst happens and you can't get the corporate card, all is not lost. It's almost a guarantee that you are not the only person working for your new company who has a bankruptcy or bad credit on their credit reports. Most companies have alternatives in place for those who can't qualify for the corporate card - mine does. Good luck and keep us posted on what happens, ok?
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Usually, the company has an officer-level who must 'okay' the card for you, and will direct Amex to issue the card. You might have to speak with your supv/mgr to start the process, and you don't have to disclose your bk. "Yes, I've experienced some credit problems in the past. The causes are behind me now, and I'm working diligently to overcome and repair my credit history. But, because my scores have suffered, I don't qualify as easily for a main card like Amex. What options does the company have to provide me a card for corporate use?"

They may offer you to take travel advances, but likely you'll get the card.
