God Bless America and the IRS

Almost a year out of a chapter 7 now, been working two jobs still and 70 plus hours a week, trying to get it back together right? Well the great USA says "No you are bad for trying to get ahead, and since you are single and tworking 2 jobs, have no kids , I think I'll take $2000 from you, thanks for all the sweat" The CH7 was nice but now what? at least I have till April 15, why did I think I could improve my situation when the govt. just takes it away in the end. The dreams the hope , whatever!!!

I know this doesn't help now, but when working 2 jobs it is wise when you are single to claim 0 not 1 on your paychecks, this way government holds more money out of your pay check and you don't have to pay.. if you find out they are still not taking any fed out of any paychecks you can ask your employeer to take additional money out of your check for your federal tax per week. I know it sucks, but sometime on a second jobif you only work 10-15 hours that week or sometimes upto 25 hours, that company is not required to take as much fed taxes out each week, but you will make it up at the end... it is not really the governments fault, it is more then likely the companys fault for trying to save money on taxes... I know this, because I am an accountant, and a business owner.. Sorry about that, it sucks...

But to pay your taxes, you can always file for a payment plan or extension you don't have to pay it by april 15 if you do that, and you can get payments on it so you wont have to pay all 2000 up front.

It's too late for 2006, but for the rest of 2007, keep track yourself of how many withholdings you need to use to ensure you don't owe much and don't get a large return back either - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p919.pdf .

Thelitman is right - approach the IRS now and arrange for a payment plan for the $2K. They will give you up to three years to pay what you owe.
