Attorney Recommendations in Orange Co. CA

As you can tell I'm a newbie here (1st post). Just started to research filing for a Chapter 7. I'm glad I came across this forum.

I'd like to know if anyone has any recommendations for an attorney (in the OC) they were happy with and general costs associated w/their attorney. Hope that's not to personal.

I have very little $ and like many of you would like to put this ordeal behind me never to return again.

I've Googled a few BK attorney's in the area, but since I'm just starting I can't tell the good from bad. Any tips/advice ?

    Thanks

Welcome to BK Forum, themunk1 - glad you found us!

Selecting the right lawyer is 90% of having a good filing vs a tough one. Here are some links to help you find a good bankruptcy lawyer:

And here's the link to Martindale's where you can search for bankruptcy lawyers and see their credentials - http://www.martindale.com/

Call 3-4 bankruptcy lawyers in your area and set up free consultation appointments with each one. You can discuss your situation, and you will learn a lot about your best options around bankruptcy.

Here's a list of questions to ask each lawyer during your appointments - http://research.lawyers.com/lawyer-i....html?site=537 .

After meeting with 3-4 (or more) bankruptcy lawyers, you'll get an idea of who you can work with and who is the most knowledgeable. That's the one you retain, and they very likely won't be the cheapest - this is definitely not the time to scrimp!

Hope this helps, and again, welcome to the forum!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

      We're using a great Attorney:
      Check PM
He's filed over 2000 cases and is known as the best in O.C.
Fee's are steep, $3000-$4000 for Ch. 7. But you don't want to mess around with something of this magnitude and complexity.
You get what you pay for.

Please use the Private Message feature to post about "specific attorneys."

Generally speaking, you should not rely on a public forum for specific attorney recommendations.

        Thank you.
