Anything You Wish You Had Done Differently ...

    Hi,

Only my second post as I've just started my research. Hopefully I'll be able to share some info for the folks who come after me.

For the experienced folks, is there anything you wish you had handeled differently with your Ch. 7 ? Any potential pitfalls or unexpected issues ?

My biggest fear is selecting the "right" lawyer and coming up with the $ required to reatian his/her services.

I wish I had done it a year or more before I did and saved myself alot of grief. Other than that I would have liked to have known it really was going to be less stressful than I had thought.

I have to agree with BKTango - wish I had done it before the laws changed and saved myself alot of grief too. And have to second as well that, so far, it really has not been very stressful and I've learned alot to have a better financial future. I'm actually very excited at applying my newfound knowledge and making my $ work for me instead of controlling me....

Ditto here, I wish we would've filed 2-3 years earlier and gotten it over with instead of struggling along for so long paying over $1500 a month in cc interest payments and never getting ahead. There is also a couple of houses I wish we never would've bought which is what started this whole downward spiral. The hardest part was making the decision to file and going to see the lawyer.

I wish I'd done it two years prior to forgo all the requirements now established. I think trying to get all the classes and counseling done was more stressful than that actual paperwork required for filing, for me anyway. It also took a long time, after all was said and done, before I could answer my phone without having a feeling of dread wash all over me.

I wish I'd learned to live on cash MUCH earlier! It's HARD, but you know what, it's been 6 months since we stopped using credit and it feels AWESOME!!!!!!!

I also wish we'd done this sooner, I wouldn't have wasted so much of my hard earned money trying to fix something that couldn't be fixed!
