can't find some information/documents lawyers are requesting

such as tax return information for the previous 2 years, a collections agency from india that i have no idea what their name / address might be... hypothetically, when you retain a lawyer and pay the fees and are missing a few documents... he/she would assist in obtaining them (of course while billing me hourly)... correct?

i still have a checking from a credit union that i had during college that i stupidly didnt' close before leaving school, it probably has had $5 in it but i think i still need to provide him statements from ALL bank accounts in my name.

    argh

I think there is a form you can send the IRS and they'll send your your tax forms. Did you file online? I know Turbotax keeps all the tax records on file in your account if you use them and you can just print them out whenever you need them. If you used a tax preparer like HR Block, they probably have a copy for you.

Sweetie, take a deep breath. If you get a credit report pulled you may be able to find the collectors name or address. If you can't find it right now you have until discharge to submit it, so that gives you almost 4 months. As far as taxes, did you efile??? If you did you can get a copy online or call (800) 829-1040 follow the prompts and they will send out your tax returns. If you did not file them, do so now and take it to your nearest federal building and they will stamp receipt and you can use that (my husband had to do this)

You only need to provide up to the last 6 months worht of bank statements, usually they ask for 3 months. If you have money in your account before filing take it out and spend it onl neccessary ie rent, food, clothes, utilities, you get the picture. do not close that account before closing.

Let your lawyer know what is going on...
Success is reachable, stretch out your arm and grab it.

Take a deep breath pal. My lawyer didn't help me get this kind of info either. Remember the more time he puts into it the more he can charge you so it is in your favor to get this info yourself .

        Okay to get tax transcripts:

The Transcripts are free . When I ordered mine took about 2 weeks to get them .

Pull your credit report and hopefully you'll get the Indian address .

Depending on the age of the bank account it is possible it was long closed. If you remember the bank name you can probably look up contact information and ask for information on the account. You'll probably have to prove you are the person for the account. (If there is a local branch head there and ask for some help.)
