Yesterday my husband and I had our consultation with our attorney to find out if we would be able to file chap 7. He agreed and will be able to in a couple of weeks. We received info from our mortgage company that they were starting the foreclosure. We checked the paper yesterday and our names were not in it so that gives us another week. Lawyer said if it goes in this week we have until 22 to file but if not will be later. At first we didnt know how we were going to get the money for the attorney but I talked to my mother and she is sending the money to pay for it, so that is a big weight lifted off our shoulders. We will be able to get out from this huge monkey on our back and be able to start over. My lawyer said when it was over, he sits down with you and explains how to rebuild your credit so you can be able to buy a house in a couple of years. I liked that.

Sounds like both of you found attorneys that ACTUALLY has a persons financial problems at heart.......
Not many attorneys offer "how to rebuild your credit" after the bankruptcy is over.... Most of them are grab your money, file, and that's the way it is!
Consider yourselves very lucky, and listen to their advice.

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
