341 On the 16th and so nervous

We finally have our 341 on thursday.(we filed june 14th. I am nervous. There really isn't anything I can or should be nervous about. Just can't wait to have this over. My marriage is really taking a hit from this. We are moving soon and hope to just start over. No more credit cards if we don't have it we don't need it. It has been nice doing the cash thing the past couple months. We are letting or house go but have only gotten a motion to lift the stay from our second mortgage not our first. Our cars and 1st mortgage are through a local bank and we have heard nothing. I find that a little odd. We are surrendering one car and are current
on the other. I have a feeling the are going to show up at the meeting. Any one ever have that happen? I was also wondering if the second class needed to be taken before the 341 or just before the discharge. I thought discharge but my friend said she was told 341. We already took the 1st course. We live in Wisconsin if that makes a difference. Well wish me luck hopefully i don't freak out!!!

You'll survive your 341, TMTH. We all worry so much about it....stress, fret, wring our hands....then before you know it, your five minutes have gone by and you can breathe again! Hang in there - it will be over soon.

You must take the second required bankruptcy class before discharge. The agency that you used for the first class probably has the second class as well.

I have one word for you:
Valium.
Of course I'm not a doctor so I am not prescribing. I'm just saying that when my time comes, I may have to take a few valiums. And if I didn't have valiums I'd try some herbs from the drugstore like valerian, which works very good to calm one's nerves.

Or xanax...that was my drug of choice. haha If you try something new, be sure and try it BEFORE your 341 to see how you react to it. I have had Patients react the exact opposite of how the drug was suppose to work. You will be fine. When you raise you hand to be sworn in, spread your fingers. I heard that somewhere. If they are close together, you get grilled...like you are trying to hide something. I watched for that and it was true at our meeting too. Good luck! S&T

You're right.....there is really nothing to be nervous about. But I'm sure you've read that on here a gazillion times by now. Doesn't make it any easier. I think we ALL were nervous! I know I was. And what happened? JUST like I had read: it was a piece of cake, over in minutes.

You'll be fine, just take a deep deep breath.

In the end you may end up with a stronger marriage if you both make the economic changes you plan.

For your 341 I'd follow these simple rules:

1. Dress casually (like going out to eat at the average restaurant)
2. Wear only modest jewelry (wedding band, modest watch, maybe modest earrings for wife)
3. Do not bring electronic devices
4. Do not bring children
5. DO NOT BE LATE
6. Make sure to take your Driver's License and SSN ( for both of you if filing jointly)
7. Any other paperwork that the Trustee or Lawyer has told you to bring. (If they haven't asked for any don't worry about it )

It is possible that if the bank is local that they will appear. Do not be afraid.

The contact will be their lawyer basically seeing where they stand. They'll ask are you reaffirming, redeeming or surrendering. If you are represented by a lawyer most likely they'll talk to the lawyer rather than you directly, and then they'll identify themselves when the Trustee asks "Are there any creditors present?".

There will then be some brief yes/no questions for the Creditor/Lawyer/You.

Its not much really don't lose sleep over it.

You'll be fine.

You have to take the second course within 45 days after the 341 meeting. I would suggest the next day so you don't forget.

Good luck on thurs. I have my 341 on Tuesday and i filed 7-17 I am so nervous! I asked for the day off and lo and be hold Sprint said no you cant have the day off. So i am going to work for an hour leaving and going to the 341 so i will have my work uniform on. I am scared that my creditors are going to show up and cause problems. I hope everything just works out.

Yeah, I was a basket case before our 341! Our Trustee and Attorney were actually making jokes and laughing. I wasn't sure what to think of that, but it went well, asked some questions that weren't too bad and off we went. Total of 10 minutes and we were out of there and onto our 60 day wait.
