Hi again, I want to file alone without my husband. He does not want to file, but he has 40,000 in c.c. debt. Do I have to disclose that if i am only an authorized user on his accounts. They are not joint accounts and all my c.c. are only in my name, he is not even an auth. user. Is there a differenc? Thanks

There is a difference between being an authorized used on a credit card and being a co-signer.Originally posted by helpsoneeded View PostHi again, I want to file alone without my husband. Any cards that have you as only an authorized user you do not have to include in your bankruptcy because you don't owe the debt - the card owner does.
Any cards that list you as a co-signer you do have to include. You have agreed to be responsible for the debt if the other co-signer bails.
It's a shame your husband isn't willing to file with you so you two could get a real fresh start. Filing bankruptcy isn't the end of the world. Perhaps he doesn't understand that after 2 years of good credit history after filing, you'll get almost everything you could have now - mortgages, credit cards, the works? Not to mention incredible peace of mind!!I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
