    Recent Credit Report

    Good evening folks.

I see on some attorney questionnaire forms that they request a recent credit report. Is this for all 3 bureaus and what is considered recent? These reports are for the lawyer or really for the bankruptcy officials?

Thank you for your help and time.

You need current reports from all three credit bureaus. Current would be within the last month or two. The credit reports are for your lawyer, not for the trustee or anyone else in the bankruptcy court.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

The US Trustee that is reviewing my case specifically asked for the paper Experian report - NOT the online version, as the paper report gives payment history for each of your accounts, where the online does not. They only accept the Experian one you order over the phone.

Let's not scare inhocknow to death, Boscoe! IHN is in the gathering-info-getting-ready-to-file stage. You're far past that. The US trustee took an interest in your case and now you're dealing with after-filing issues. Very different situation than IHN's.

Just providing a little more info and perspective - isn't that one of the purposes here? I am well aware of where I am in this process. If this will save some people the cost of requesting 2 different credit reports (and getting charged for the 2nd one), then we've done our job.

When i first found this site, I had no experience and wanted others to share theirs. Now that I have some, I want to do the same. I am sure inhocknow and others will appreciate this as I did and still do.

Please don't misunderstand, Boscoe. I'm not criticizing your post, just trying to keep what you shared in perspective for inhocknow, a newer member much earlier in the filing process than you are. I was concerned that IHN may think that he/she could have the US trustee looking at their credit record too when chances are 99% that won't happen in their case.

New members often tend to think everything bad is going to happen to them when they file and it adds to their stress a great deal. I wanted to be sure that IHN got the message that what happened to you is not likely to happen to him/her, that's all. Peace, ok? We all appreciate the information you share here and hope that you continue to share in the future!

I'd rather be prepared then not prepared.

How can I request my copy (the paper version) ?

Thanks for your terrific help everybody!

                Cheers!

Experian paper copy can be ordered via 888-322-5583. This includes monthly balances for each account going back at least 12 months....good luck!
