    bankruptcy and child support

just curious... if you are court ordered to pay child supprt and it is coming right out of your paycheck, do you still have to continue to pay it if you are filing ch. 7 bk?

Many things cannot be discharged in BK, and I believe child support if one of them. Each state law is different regarding child support.
This should be listed as a monthly expense to you on yor list of living expenses.
I don't think filing BK will stop you from having to pay child support, if that is the case.

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

Yeah, you should just continue to voluntarily pay the child support.

        Nothing will stop it

In California, just give up the CCSD will keep on coming to get you. There is no stopping Child Support it is one of the undischargeable debts.

My advice is for those who have not chosen the mother/father of their child yet choose carefully. I choose poorly and not only will i pay (until child is 18) the child pays the most and will pay for the rest of her life.
