My spouse and I are seperated and my spouse is not living in the house and the house is in my name only. My spouse wants to file ch 7 due to all the credit cards. The lawyer says that my spouse can put the house on this ch 7 to pay the debt. I thought that you can only do this if both names are on the deed
My question is
1 can you still file ch 7 did the new bill pass
2 can my spouse do this to the house even the name is not on the deed
3 if so what can I do to protect me and anything else that my spouse seems to want to take

I am new to this but I can answer one question: the bill has been signed but will not go into effect until October (see the froum category on this topic). As for your house - I would talk to a BK attorney.

Well, if your seperated, why not just follow through with the Divorce. Its generally easier and cleaner to get divorced, then file BK.
