Hello folks, thanks for your great and terrific help. I filed about 30 days ago. Actually my lawyer filed for me. I got an alert from my credit report stating a judgement was entered on Friday against me by CITi. It didn't list the court or case number for the judgement. My 341 is in a few days. I called citibank now and they would not give me info on this judgement but they said they will contact my lawyer. My debt with Citibank is about 18 months old with regular payments made up till about 2-3 months ago. What can this be about? Thanks for all of your help.

They were able to get a judgment against you after only 2-3 months of not paying? I didn't think they even considered that unless the nonpayment went on for at least 6 months.Originally posted by inhocknow View PostHello folks, thanks for your great and terrific help. People get hung up on the 70/90 rule, 6 months, etc. A creditor can sue after one late payment if they want. Really, anyone can sue anyone at anytime.
Anyway, are you sure this is a judgement? How did they get a judgement against you without you knowing anything was happening? Did they serve you and you just ignore it?
Even though it's very possible, it does seem way out of the norm for it to happen so fast.

Just because it appears on your Credit Report, does not make it fact.
We had a Judgement on our Credit Reports years ago and the Judgement did not exist. We were sued. The idiot from the Credit Reporting Bureau who went to the Court House did not follow the paper trail. He/She saw the claim for the Law Suit and listed it as a Judgement in our Credit Reports.
If that person had done their homework, and followed the paper trail, they would have found that the Law Suit ended in a Settlement.
Possibly Citi sued you right around the time you filed. That might be what's being listed as a Judgement.
You might wanna run by the Court House and check into the situation.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

I had a creditor send my debt to a collection agency a week after my last payment and the collection agency tried to sue me right away, no lates or anything, the creditor just did not want to deal with the debt anymore, crazy but this is true. Well now neither is getting any money!!!!Success is reachable, stretch out your arm and grab it.

Usually, having a judgement against you will allow the creditor to garnish wages from you to repay the debt. Yes, the BK clears the debt in a Ch.7 and stop the garnishments.Bankruptcy History:
Chapter 7 filed - 10/12/2005 - Asset
Discharged - 02/16/2006
Case Closed - 11/08/2007

Short and sweet, a judgment means you got sued and lost. At that point, a judgment creditor can take whatever action your state allows to collect the debt. It can range from wage garnishment to a levy on your bank account to a lein against your home.
You'll know when, a process server hands you a lawsuit or, receive a letter with a summons and complaint.
And yes, list the judgment creditor in the bk filing.
