Can you make a pmt to lawyer with a cc?

I know it sounds terrible, but we're supposed to make another payment and since we're still paying on this one credit card that had a surgery put on it, would it be okay to make a payment one time to our lawyer on it? We do not have enough in our chk acct to pay him with and we can make a pmt online to him. Our lawyer recommended we pay in December and January to them anyway.

    Thanks.....

It seems like something the credit card company could object to and you might not be able to discharge that amount in your bankruptcy. It's obvious that you weren't planning on paying the amount back if you were hiring a bankruptcy attorney.

It might slide, though - you never know...

That's an awesome idea. I was thinking of taking a home equity loan on my apartment to pay the lawyer...I get those offers every day. What a joke...

I'm kidding by the way...I don't know if you can pay with a cc, but I would bet not. You'll probably be liable for the debt. But I really do get home equity offers on my apartment.

LOL...I know it seems like an asinine idea, just thought I'd see if anyone else had done it. I know there's a risk of it being objected. We'll skip a month to the lawyer.

You need to ask your attorney. To be honest, most BK attorney's will not accept credit card payments or credit card convenience checks as payment.

Thanks HHM...I did figure that was the case, but I also thought, no harm in asking!

Actually, my atty. did accept a credit card convenience check for part of my payt. It was my son's account, however.
