    Selling a trailer before filing

We bought a trailer for 2,400 to sleep in while staying with some family. We are moving soon and want to sell it and use the money to move with. We never had to register it because it just sat there and we're getting paid cash for it. However, it is known by our lawyer that we bought it because we paid with a CC check. I know this isn't a good thing to do, but couldn't we say that we gave it to some friends or family in lieu of rent/utilities and be able to use the cash to move with or should we just say that we used the money to move with? We don't HAVE to move, but where we're moving there are better school ect.. and we have family there and basically just want to move back. Thanks for any input!

Moving expenses are a legimate use of funds. Just don't sell it to an insider.

What do you mean don't sell it to an insider? Like family? We're selling it to some random person that answered our ad.

An insider would be family or close friends.
