    Is it ok...?

I have an appointment with a lawyer about filing bk. I think I am eligible to file Chapter 7. I would like to buy a cheaper car to keep out of the BK. What my question is...is there a certain amount of time that I should not be charging on my credit cards or financing anything before filing BK?

To shift the burden of proving that you did not intend to pay back whatever new debt you took on from you to your creditors, the current bankruptcy law states no new charges for at least 90 days on your credit cards before filing and no cash advances for at least 70 days before filing.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
