    How long? on car loan

Hello all, As I have said before, I plan on turning in my truck, I am not late at this point. My discharge date is Dec.21st My next payment is due on the 17th of Dec. Anyway I will need a little more time to arrange for another vehicle. If I miss the Dec 17th payment how long before the repo stuff gets rolling? can I get my self a month or two of no payments before turning it in? Like I said I am current and not late at this point....Thanks

If you have been up to date until now, you could probably get away with 60-90 days unless your car is financed with a local company/bank/credit union. It took Nissan a full 3 months before they REALLY started trying to contact me (calling references, next of kin, etc).

Another option is you may be able to get a couple of payments deferred, that would get you over the hump and it wouldn't show up on your credit report as missing payments or being late.

If the truck is included in bankruptcy, then that is all that can be reported, unless there was delinquency prior to filing. If you are two weeks from discharge and miss a payment, they cannot report as such, as you are protected under the automatic stay. So what I'm getting at, is don't worry about credit reporting, as all they can report is IIB. You probably have a little time before they come to get it. How long are you looking at before you get different transportation?
