    Hello All,
    Is my employer going to find out if I file Bankruptcy? How do I avoid garnishments and them finding out ?

    If you file a 7, they won't be notified unless they're a creditor. If you file a 13, some trustees require plans be funded with a wage garnishment.
    Only other way is if, you job requires a credit check every so often }think bonding requirement or security clearence}.

      Your bankruptcy is public record and a large number of newspapers throughout the country post weekly listings of filings in the state just as they do marriages, engagements, arrests, etc. In our newspaper, they appear weekly in the Business Section and very prominently. If that is done in your area, it is a possibility someone where you work will see that and spread the word unless they already know. Otherwise, unless as the other poster stated that they pull your credit reports for any reason during your employment, they will not know unless you or someone else tells them.
