    Question about using credit card...

I'm in the 60 day club...
I may need to rent a car tomorrow. I have two credit cards that used to have $1000+ limit on them, but I'm not sure what the status of them are now. They had zero balances so were not included in my bankruptcy. I have not heard from them at all as to the status of my credit availability changing. I guess it's possible they are still extending credit to me.

So can I at least try to use them for deposit on my rental car tomorrow even though I'm in the 60 day club? It would only be as a deposit since my insurance is picking up the tab on the rental car...

Most BKs are reported to credit issuers the day of filing and most cards are DOA the same day. I would call the 800 number for the cars and ask about your credit limit.

Why don't you just call the number on the back of the card and ask???????????????????????

Really?? How does the credit card company know <the day of the filing> since the credit card company isn't included in the bankruptcy???????????

Nearly all credit card companies do frequent, routine credit pulls on their card members for promotional offers. Thus, even if a credit card was not included in a BK, odds are, they will find out about it. For example, most AMEX card holders get their card cancelled within 60 days of filing BK even if the card had a zero balance at time of filing and was not listed in the BK.

          You have 2 options.
          1. Call the credit card company
          2. Go down to a gas station and try and buy gas with the card and see what happens.

Of course a credit card company will find out about your bankruptcy, it will be on your credit report for about 10 years!!!! Claiming that the <day> you file your bankruptcy that your credit cards are DOA (even though they aren't on the creditor matrix and have NO IDEA you filed) is of course, incorrect. To claim further that your credit card is now DOA is plain ignorant and more importantly, also incorrect.
