I just checked PACER a few minutes ago and saw this welcome update:

I got a call from AMEX's collection service eleven months ago tonight (3/15/07) and realized I was at the end of my rope and had to file. That was also the last day I used a credit card. The next day I met with my first lawyer and got things rolling. Kinda crazy to think that I'm now free but it's kind of anti-climactic since it was all so painless aside from the all the scary things I created in my head.
In the end, though, it all worked out with a bunch of planning and the tremendous help and reassurance from this board.
