My parents are keeping me afloat

    Hi Everyone,

I'm making very little money ($1,000) a month and just my rent and auto payment is $1,000 a month...hah

This doesn't include the $600 or so in credit cards I have to pay monthly.

I have been getting help from my parents and some from my girlfriend, so my bank account doesn't show activity of all these bills being paid...needless to say I can only get their help for so long, so I'm going to file in a couple months (recent charges on CC).

Will the trustee understand my situation that when I say my rent is $725 but he/she only sees my rent checks ranging from $500-$600 because that ALL I HAVE in my account? Or will they get suspicious or something?

Nothing in the bk code says you can't get help from friends and family.
If the trustee has any questions, just answer them truthfully.

Since your earned income is so low, your trustee is unlikely to check your accounts that closely. The trustee may ask you during your 341 how you are making it on so little - then you can explain the situation like you did here to us. No big deal - many people beg/borrow to make it before throwing in the financial towel and filing.

A question you don't have to answer if you don't want to...are you working towards increasing your income? Bk may wipe out your non-secured cc debt for now, but it won't help you make more money afterwards nor keep you from running up cc's or other credit you get afterwards either. Bk also won't help you not borrow from your parents and gf to make up any shortfalls. What are your financial plans for after bk?

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

      06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
      06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
      07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
      09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
      08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

      10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

Thanks for the advice everyone. In about 6 months my income should slowly start going up and up and up...but I can't stretch out the help for so long.
