I survived my 341!

We got there early because downtown Tampa is a mess (I'm in Middle district FL). We listened in on one going on before us, she was a pro se filer. She did do pretty well but I suspect her papers were a bit of a mess because the trustee seemed to have to look for things a lot. Our attorney got there and he took us in a conference room for prep...the basic stuff, answer questions with short and concise answers, always tell the truth, etc. Then we went back in and waited through another one with a couple who did not speak english, then it was us. Name, address, ID's, why did we move to FL, What kind of work do I do, how did I arrive at my business expenses, did we receive our 07 tax return, did we spend it and on what. She seemed satisfied with our answers and that was it. What ever people were saying about the female trustee in Tampa, I must not have gotten her. This gal was professional, easy to talk to, and seemed to be very warm and genuine! If anyone out there get's her...you will be very glad. She was awesome!!
Anyway, our attorney said we just wait for the discharge and that she didn't seem interested in pursuing this any further. I guess that makes me a 60-day Club Member right!!!???

I'm kind of confused. I live in north Florida and just retained a bankruptcy attorney. When I asked him about the 341 he said I just had to show the Trustee some ID and no questions to answer. When I pressed him he said the courts are overflowing and everyone wants to get through it quickly.

Dazed, I can only speak from my own experience here in central FL but from what I have read here, most people are asked at the very least some questions regarding the facts in their petition. I'm sure others will chime in on their experience. However, I have never heard anyone say they were not asked a single question.

Thanks, My4 and sunshine, it wasn't as bad I as feared! Sunshine, she never mentioned the stimulus check (we haven't received one yet.), just asked about or tax return.

tallberry - congrats on a great 341. I remember some of your first posts. Now not only have you filed, you've had your 341. I'm so jealous! But really - congrats and I hope all goes as smooth as your 341 did.

I've been lurking...maybe some day I will file.

Thank you so much, Dollar. It has been a rollercoaster ride thats for sure. I will just say, it is such a relief to get the darn thing filed. Once I did it...I started to feel more in control (if that makes sense). I think when you do finally take the plunge, you will be amazed what a burden is lifted off of your shoulders. You are doing the right thing by hanging out here with some of the most amazing people. You'll have a BA in BK when it's all said and done!!

Very good! Sounds like you breezed right threw it! Hoping ours goes as well. If that stimulus check would hurry up and come we can surely file soon! Spending that money is just more important right now and I don't want to share it with the trustee!

Congrats!! We will be filing in central FL in Tampa, and when we went to our lawyers yesterday we asked and he said to spend it, but we're only getting back 1200. He said not on big luxary stuff, but if I go blow it on food bills etc, clothes that would be fine.

Hey divorceruinedme I sent you a PM before I went back and read your threads about your trustee and I don't think we have the same one anymore since you said yours was from Sarasota. WHEW !!!!!! I was FREAKING out !! I'm going to have a nice weekend and let the chips fall where they may on Monday.
