You can sell your truck before you file. Just be sure that when you file you can protect whatever cash you get from the sale with your state's exemptions or turn the cash back into another vehicle that you can protect with your exemptions. You can also spend the cash down for normal living expenses to what can be protected - just keep all the receipts in case your trustee asks what you did with the money.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
