What do we do with old bank accounts?

    Hello.
Taking advice from this forum (thanks so much everyone) we opened a new bank account that isn't attached to any of our credit cards. My question now is, do we close the old accounts or leave them open? We would like to close them just in case some of our direct deposits don't make it to the new bank account on time and then our old bank freezes the funds. I read on another site that you should not close old bank accounts b/c it makes it look like the bk was planned and not emergency protection as it is intended to be. Is this true?

Will it be a problem if we close old bank accounts?

    Thank you

You have to list any accounts you recently closed in the bk petition. Most folks list the old bank in the petition as well to cover any overdraft fees etc, then just leave the account open until after the 341 when they close it.

And maybe just leave $5 in the old account.
