How does a Car Repo work?

My husband and I are only reaffirming one vehicle. My husband is sooo upside down on his, we have decided to discharge it. We thought we would have time to save and shop for a car until after the discharge. We just found out on Pacer that the bank filed for a release of stay and it was granted. How long after that do they repo the car? How does that work? I have heard they come in the middle of the night and tow it. What happens if it is in the garage.

We plan on calling the bank to surrender the car, but since it is late, we are wondering if they will be coming tonight....

I am going to call the bank and ask them where they would like me to drop it off.
No need to prolonging it. And I would like to get it off my insurance policy.
I think now that the stay is lifted on it the bank can talk to you.
