Welfare, the hits keep on coming

Well, its sounds wierd, but I am happy to report that I am officially on welfare for the time being.

Has anyone had any experience with this, LOL what an odd sounding question I mean, has anyone been on welfare during a BK?

My 341 is monday and I dont know if this is something I should volunteer to the trustee or just wait until he asks. I am almost afraid he/she is gonna freak out. "Your on WELFARE!"

The good new is my family and I are gonna be ok until we get on our feet. And I dont want anyone to think my story is a sad one, because our situation is not permanent. Two years or so from now we should actually be doing very well, barring some sort of calamity.

The welfare workers are tickled pink. Originally I felt really bad about it, but they just say that they wish everyone had a plan to get OFF welfare. They all saythat this is what it was meant for, to help poeple to have a better future and get on thier feet. Its funny too because I have to provide a ton of documentation to the welfare workersjust like BK! They verify what I am doing during the week, in my case school. The university I am at wont fill out third party forms, and the worker didnt know what to do because they have never had someone at that school on welfare, LOL.
Not only am I not a lawyer, the California BAR association has sent me numerous letters telling me not to even THINK about going to law school. In fact, the lay advice I provide is not even good. In the end remember, you get what you pay for, and here in BK land were not the best at paying.

I'm glad you got a plan.

When the Trustee asks "Have there been any changes?" That's when you tell him your on welfare now.

Yeah we have a plan, no pyramid schemes involved, just good old fashioned hard work. I know everyone isnt happy with people being on welfare, for example one of my classmates is Mr. Young Republican Incarnate, and we are friends, but I know hes PO'd when he thinks of his check going to pay my bills and what not. Oh well, Ill just have to contribute that much more when Im done with school.

I am glad you get a chance to get back on your feet. Tell Mr. Young Republican Incarnate that you didn't use his check...you used mine! Things happen and we wish you well on school and all!!!

In my mind this is exactly what welfare should be for. To help those that need it! To give people who have determination to succeed in life and just need a little help to get there. I applaud you for using the system for what it is meant to be used for and may this be the stepping stone you need to better your future.

I couldn't agree more. Welfare is ment as a transitional period to get you back on your feet. Some people spend their life on welfare, and "abuse" the system. Good Luck!!

Never be ashamed. My first child was born healthy with the aid of welfare. My boss at the time told me cases like mine were what he wanted his money to go for, not someone who was able to help themselves, but too lazy to do so.

In a few years, you will be paying the system back and then some. And you will be able to appreciate where some of that money is going, to help others like yourself.
