I am in Florida, not Illinois, but it does not seem like she would be affected, other than you may be asked to list her monetary contribution to the household. Also, you will be responsible for chilld support.
I suggest going to nolopress.com and buying their C7 book. They have a print version and a downladable online version. Buying from nolopress.com will save you about 1/2 what the cost is in a retail bookstore. Also, if a 'freebie' is offered, take that too. This book is written in a straight-forward manner in plain English, and will help alot with learning about this bewildering process.
