I have read conflicting information regarding student loans. Our attorney made the comment that we would still have to continue to pay on my student loan (I have about $7500 left on it.) But, I just read something today in which it said that student loans would have to be paid, unless they are over 7 years old. I graduated in August 1998, but I started paying on my loan December 1997 or the beginning of 1998. Would this mean that my student loan would not need to be paid on anymore?
I'm questioning this because I was also told that once you file, you can't pay on the debt anymore or you will open the account back up and you'll have to continue to pay on it.
