This thread is getting a bit silly. The only issue with pets is if you are breeding. If you are not a breeder then the dog or cat should be neutered as this is the ethical thing to do. I show 2 Maine Coon cats but they are alters. They were listed in BK but no problem at all. Now if I had a cattery with whole cats that would be a potential problem but not likely as most cateries do not break even.

REALLY - LIGHTENING ----------CAN'T YOU DO BETTER???
You act like a couple of cans of dogfood is going to make a big difference in her income..........DUH - GET REAL!!!!
As far purebreeds, YES, many can tell a purebreed by how they laydown....there are many signs a dog is full stock......(though many are fullstock with no papers).....
The woman that had to sell her dogs may very well have had two "purebreeds/with papers", and the female pregnant...... NOW THATS BUCKS to the Trustee.....
A good stock purebreed chihuahua for breeding will easily bring $500.00 each (females more).... plus what the value of the puppies are she's carrying at the time and what she could produce in the future..... A good purebreed dog can produce $2,000 - $4,000 income a year...
Especially if they sell them, I can see the Trustee saying - "asset"......
If the "humane society" cannot find a home for its animals they are eventually "put down"...........
I have 2 babies that are Humane Society recuses........off of death row......
Yes, have your animal spade, unless your a breeder.....
I'm proud you gave the little "dude" a home, many wouldn't.....and you would find him dead on the street later on!
My thoughts on this subject,

Keep the dog, he's not an asset, he is family, utterly exempt, a waif blown in to your loving arms... so to speak. If the Trustee had come for my Princess I can tell you flat I would have resisted violently. He could have all the worthless crap, I'll tell you all about our Trustee one day, I get PM's about once a month from others who had him or want to know about him. You would laugh to see his website and all the crapped out, beat to tar old cars he has siezed since "defacto" enforcement of the new law began. After all, who will challenge him!!!!!!!!!!!!!"You once asked me for advice. You want some now? Never pass up a good thing." Lieutenant Jean Rasczak, Starship Troopers

I heard that Robivi3 - there sure isn't going to be anyone around to challenge him!!!!
The only person to disagree with him "might be the judge" - and I'm sure that may happen once in a while, maybe!!!!!
And I'm sure if a Trustee conficates a antique in the process and he buys it himself cheaply from the court - no one is going to say anything, are they??? As long as he produces cash for it!!!

Amen folks! I have family I would rather auction off than my pooch lol. My dog is the only constant in my life most times. Funny story, at my 341 this young lady was sitting with the group waiting for her turn with the trustee. Suddenly we heard a growl then a bark!
Turns out this young lady had one of those purses made for dogs with a cute (Full breed, Lightning
). Chihuahua inside. The whole room including the trustee was roaring. She took the pooch out of her purse to hush it but it wouldn't lol. I don't think you have to worry about your pets.

A dog that's been in your house for a week can hardly be considered an integral member of the family. Give me a break.
I'm always amazed that people who claim to be broke or poor or living pay check to pay check manage to pay for pets. They claim to barely be able to afford food, clothing, and shelter, but they can find money every month to feed Fido, take him to the vet, and buy him chew toys.

I had a dog for many years. I could afford it. I wasn't broke. I also donate to money to the local human society.
I don't like it when people abuse the bankruptcy system. It hurts everyone. Why do you think bankruptcy reform was enacted? Banks are tired of people making up "expenses" to avoid paying their debts.

I don't like abuse either. Not from debtors nor from Banks. Banks made record profits. The new reforms will cost the banks more money then anyone. True they will get more money from the new laws that I too agree with (to a point), but most people won't use as much credit anymore knowing they won't be forgiven very easily. That only hurts bank profits. I'm getting tired of the "it hurts us all" line at least when it comes to bk and banks. 3 years into the new laws since they are getting more money do you think the banks will start lowering your fees, interest rates, etc.?
If you think the new laws will really help everyone then I have a bridge to sell you...
