    Reaffirmation after Bankruptcy

I have a target card which before filing bankruptcy had a high balance but was always paid on time. Since then, I was discharged on 7/12 and I'm seeking to establish some accounts to help rebuild my credit. The other day I attempted to apply for another target card and was declined because I already had an account with target. The rep gave me the number to their collections dept. I was going to ask for a reconsideration but now I was wondering given the status of my account if they would consider a reaffirmation after my bankruptcy is discharged. Would this help my credit score? Would it be worth it? I'm certain it would be at their bank's discretion. Any advice would be helpful.

Why would you want to reaffirm on a cc that you just had a "high balance" discharged???? Just to keep the card?? Find another cc to use - you will have many offers after discharge!!!

I'm sure they would "love to reaffirm with you".....means that they would get paid everything they are owed!!! Plus, your interest rate would be rediculous....
Also, if you failed to pay again or are late, etc, they could easily get a judgement against you and attach it to your home etc......

    Think before you do this.......DUH......

Try cash for a while - it's painless......... till you get your credit report straightened out.

You didn't claim BK to go back deeply in debt with one cc company (target)....just to use their card.....

Would doing this "help" your credit score - not hardly!!

Wake up and smell the roses!!!

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

I'm with Minny on this, don't reaffirm with Target. Why do the bk and get the debt discharged if you're just going to pay it off anyway? Plus I read some other posters that reaffirmed on a card thinking that they were going to help their credit and keep the card. It turns out it didn't help them, cost them all that money, and when the debt was finally paid off the cc closed the acct out, so that they no longer had the card in the end anyway. Use cash! It's much better.

Ditto what everyone else is saying, just get a new card.

Or here is a novel idea, pay cash for every thing and start a savings account to use for "emergencies" that everyone thinks they need a credit card for.

My opinion regarding any debts to be reaffirmed is it's only ok to do it if it's a secured debt such as a car or house. If you should lose your income you will still have to pay the reaffirmed debt no matter what. Not good. At least a car or house can be sold during the tough times to satisfy the debt. Your "sure things" in life will be death, taxes and the target card...
