Received Discharge but how long to close

Hi there, last week I filed some amended schedules with two new creditors I missed off by accident on the original chapter 7 filing. Today I received my official discharge. Is the reason why I didn't get my final decree at the same time as the discharge is because the trustee has to go back and investigate these 2 new creditors? I had to file without an attorney. Why do courts issue a discharge if the case is not yet closed?.............makes no sense to me. My case is a no asset case and everything has been moving at a break neck pace but getting the discharge so soon after I filed the amended schedules surprised me...............is that normal? Finally, when all is said and done, does the court send you a letter specifying which debts are discharged and which are not or do I have to wait and find out by looking at my credit report a month after the case closes?
    Thanks for reading my post

To answer your questions, the closing will come soon. It usually is an administrative thing with the BK court system. The trustee may look at the new creditors on the list, but again may not.

You will get an official notice in the mail signed by the judge of your Discharge. On the back (at least on the back of ours) is a rundown of all the types of debts discharged, and the ones not.

We are an asset case, so though we were discharged on Aug 13, ours won't close until sometime after Apri 1, 2009, after we get through buying our stuff back from the BK estate.

If you look around at some of the other C7 cases, you will see many that were Discharged and Closed the same day; others took longer for the close. One of the Moderators, I think it is HHM has a good post on the difference between Discharge and Close, and the of the two, the Discharge order is the important one.

Good luck on you brand new start.
