I have been lurking here for awhile and just filed for bk. First I just wanted to say thanks for all the info from this site. Great help. I am in Morris County and found an attorney through totalbankruptcy.com

I am in the process of selecting a lawyer in NJ and spoke to (name removed) and another attorney.

Bruce is nice and knows his stuff. He has helped at least 1 person I know with a chapter 7. For my situation he seemed to stick to his means test and did not look at the budget schedule I / J. Based on this my payment would have been more than I could afford and still keep my condo.

He will ask you to defer all student loans so you can use that money to pay back your creditors and will ask you to not pay into a work 401k (even if the company matches).

He is a former trustee and may take that mindset with you.

The other attorney in central NJ seemed to want to try and work with me to get me the lowest payment possible. The result may be the same but I liked the offer the 2nd guy is wiling to give.
