TEW is right. I am 52 and now find myself with zero assets, no savings, no home. But now that the discharge is right around the corner, I find it kind of exciting to figure out a new plan to begin again...without all the debt, expense and negativity. Its a challenge to work out a way to grow in a healthly way - but really a relief too.

It happens to the best of us.

I'm 45 - didn't grow up with any money problems, never had money problems in my adult life. Then WHAM - we were hit with job loss and bad real estate investments.

It gets better - be patient - I have a better job now than I had before and more SMARTS now to manage my money better.

If you went crazy with credit cards and/or other loans then, yes, you have no one to blame but yourself. However, this economy has hit people who never thought they would be in a position to file bankruptcy or even consider it. The best thing to do is learn from all of this and position yourself to be in the best possible spot in the future so that you don't have to go through it again.

Let that pain, be a teacher and a motivator... Don't beat yourself up too much about it, but it an certainly point you in a better direction.

There are lots of people in the same position as you... you have just admitted it!
Filed 8/08 - Discharged 11/08! Not tracking FICO.
                Pre-Bankruptcy Net Worth: -$72,000... Today's net worth: $142,000.
If your FICO score just went higher than your net worth, and you are happy about this, you might have a financial problem!

At that time, I had 2/3 million dollars to live on and the land was a drain to maintain and we have no children to pass it to. Due to a stupid action of another multimillionaire and some lawsuits, we lost some jobs, insurance and I got cancer and we now are broke. We filed 7 and got it and we still are plagued with and Adversary Procedure to this crack-pot ******* millionaire and we cannot even afford a lawyer. Stuff happens. We are still on our land of our heritage with a life estate, so we lost nothing. Money is nothing. It is only a means of trade. We get by and we do for ourselves.

Happiness is a state of mind. You choose daily to make or break your day. Mrs. C and I choose daily to make each day count. No matter what wealth or poverty you are in, you came into this World naked and someone else dressed you. Likewise, when you go out of this World you will naked and someone else will dress you.

In other words, we will become "Dust in The Wind"? I love that song by Kansas. Btw, the news said many millionairs living in FL now lost/invested big $$ in the recent Madoff scandal 50B Ponzi scheme too.

To add after my big hit in the fall of 2007 is when i started getting Credit Cards and writing Cash Advance's.

I had never used a Cash Advance unit than that just added fuel to the fire for me.OK i got my self to blame but feel all so they Loan SHark you when sending out those Checks if you in need for some cash as i was.Still no exscues.

Than to top that off i need some cash for a Truck and went in my Credit Union and they let me walk out with 60K just using a peice of land that had a value of $15,700.
