    No Christmas from Creditors

    I am getting pretty threatening voicemails from creditors. They leave all kinds of terrible messages and are calling my boyfriend, work and family now.

    Don't they understand I would pay them if I could? They just make me feel worse in this already terrible and depressing Xmas season!!


    All I want from santa is the money for the lawyer. I have a feeling I will be sued long before I get the money for the lawyer


    I do want to thank this board for all of the support though! If it was not for this place I would be thinking about offing myself

    its not that much for a lawyer... i paid 500 upfront, he filed the case, and i have to pay the other 200 at the 341
    filed chapter 7- dec 11, 2008
    341 meeting - jan. 21, 2009
    predischarge Education complete- Jan 28, 2009
    deadline for creditor objections- mar 23, 2009

      Inpain, it will get better. Certainly you can get 50 bucks up, and find a lawyer who will help you by payments. They have good assurance that you will pay as you won't have a closed case until he is paid. I suggest download the Nolo.com book on Chapter 7 and you may be able to fill in your paper work yourself. It does cost about $300 to file but you can also fill out an indigent form and the cost will be waved in most cases. The Nolo book is about $18 by down load.

      Remember, you are on a forum with thousands that have gone before you and have survived. You will too.

      If you write those creditors a cease and desist letter they must stop calling you. It is the law. 'Hub

        Yep just find a lawyer you can retain for reasonable fee and who will work with you on payments. Once He's retained you can divert all the collectors to him. Presto no more calls.
        BTW anything I say here is just me yapping based on my experience. Your milage may vary.
