Hi. In October, I was discharged from Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I have had good luck with USAlliance Credit Union (they're only in Massachusetts in New York). I got a secured credit card from them, which reports as a regular credit card to all 3 bureaus, $500 credit line, and NO annual fee. They also offered secured loans, with a $1000 minimum, which were also reported to the 3 bureaus.
I reaffirmed my car lease with Toyota, which ends at the end of February. I will try getting a used car loan from the credit union, and I'm also going to try getting a used car loan from Toyota Motor Credit. I had another car lease with Toyota, and have always made on-time payments with them. I'm going to call them soon to ask if I may have a good chance of getting approved for a car loan, and if they have been reporting my payments to the credit bureau since I reaffirmed. The letter that they sent me when I first reaffirmed the car told me that they would not report the payments to the credit bureaus, but they still might be, right? I can ask if they can maybe send me a letter saying that I have been making all of my car payments on-time since the beginning of my lease that I can use to help me get approved at the credit union?
