    Pulling credit

I have the ability to pull a credit bureau on myself at work. If I do this it will put an inquiry on the report from my place of work, but I'd like to see what it looks like now.

    Can I? Should I?

    This is purely curiosity driven.

If you don't mind dragging your score down. make sure it's soft hit.

To elaborate on TEW's post - if you pull from your work, then it will register as a hard inquiry.

Only consumer pulls or Account Reviews are soft hits. To do the consumer pull, you need to either do the annualcreditreport.com or belong to a service (like True Credit) where you can pull your credit all the time.

Be careful. This is against the law and the agreement between the CB's and your company and could cause you to be fired. Don't do it. It's not worth saving the $15.00.

Ok but if I go through creditkarma.com, or annualcreditreport.com or one of the other approved credit bureau sites, it doesnt list as an inquiry and/or affect my credit?

That's correct. It's considered a soft pull and only you will be able to see that you even pulled it.

Just used creditkarma.com and that was useless. Says my score is a 672. I HIGHLY doubt that considering I filed on 12/29 and my beacon was 608. I'd imagine it wouldn't even have had an effect at this point.

I also thought I'd be able to see my report, its just a score.

I wouldn't do it if it's against the rules at work. If it's not, make sure you ask a supervisor or the like. My 2 cents.

                    I am the supervisor...LOL

Its not really a matter of whether or not I CAN at work, its a matter of whether or not I CAN during ch 7. Didn't know if they'd see it at the 341.

You are playing with your job, will probably get caught as all that is probably monitored and it could get you fired. Why take the risk.

Creditkarma only gives your Transunion score, but your score may be higher than you think. I filed on 12/24 and since things have been reporting IIB, my scores have gone from low 500's to around 570! I'm assuming because they are no longer showing as late with high balances...paid with 0 balances (and a note that it is IIB) is all I see!

And why is it against the law? I pull my credit from work whenever I want. I'll go tell the boss right now and see if I get fired.

Yeah, we pull credit all day long for people. I don't get in trouble.

My question still has not been answered. Is it ok to run a person's credit BEFORE the 341 if there is no intention in making a purchase?
