I havent even been at work for 2 hours yet and everything is already going downhill.The sheriif showed up with a garnishment for my wages.I was so embarrased.I'm going to my lawyers office today to pay my final installment and hopefully get my case filed.I hope I filled out all of my creditors.I have so many payday loans from closed bank accounts that I just completely lost track.I'm hoping that filing goes smoothly and soon I will be debt free.

Just a little support bump. I had a garnishment too.. At first I was very embarassed. Our employer hands out these envelopes from corporate with the levy info, and before I knew about it, when I received my little "package" I thought it was just some kind of update on my benefits. Any way opened it up and "whammo"!

Anyway the next day at work, two of my coworkers received the same little envelope with the same info, so I knew what it was.

It happens a lot these days. You are definitely not alone.

My immediate manager was really sweet. He called me to the back, quietly handed it to me and said he didn't want anyone to know.I explained to him what the judgement was all about, told him I was filing BK and that it should be cleared up soon. He was really supportive, called the people who had placed the garnishment a lovely expletive and seemed very supportive and protective of me.

In these difficult times, people understand financial stress and are generally supportive. I found that opening up to the people who know about my financial situation and talking about it with them really helps and kind of opens their eyes to the fact bad things happen to good people.

If you are filing BK, your employer will most likely know since the BK will stop the garnishment and they will get that info when the garnishment levy is stayed by the BK. You might want to tell them up front about your BK, just to avoid any uncomfortable feelings later. Helped me a lot to deal with it up front
