My 341 meeting has been scheduled

I have been lurking since April and finally gave up and files at the end of August. I have $70K in unsecured debt...a lot of medical bills (I had a baby in '04, lot of doctors visits and surgery in '05). The debt load was unbearable.

I wanted to find out what my trustee is for in the case of a chapter 7 BK? I see the kind of interaction that they have with chapter 13 BKs, but I do not see what the interaction is in my case.

    All help is appreciated!!!

Have you signed up for pacer yet? You can look at other caes in your area. Pacer will show who the trustee is. I think you can do a search on the trustee, I didn't try that though. But I found a lot of useful information on there.
I feel like you will know at the 341 meeting, what does your attorney say. They deal with the trustees all the time and know what they each look for in the case. Hope that helps.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

Sunshine, I can so relate with what you say. My first BK (Back in 95) the lawyer walked in with me, took one look at the trustee and said "I think we can get out of here in 10 minutes"

He went had a couple words with the trustee and next thing you know, I was seated and in a few minutes, we were done.

Yes, they darn well know each other very well.

Trust me, there is more work done in the back of the courtroom than when court is in session.
Trustees, Judges etc., know the lawyers and the quality of work that they do. So by having a good, respected attorney can go along way. THey are not necessarily expensive either. Many work from home, etc. Cuts down on the overhead and also makes them more available to you.

Remember Trustees are also Lawyers when they are not Trustees......... one of the "good ole boys".........
If your lawyer has a a good repo with the Trustee that's good!!!
They all eat together - believe me!!!!

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
