I received a new Orchard card a couple weeks ago. I was discharged in June of this year. I never thought I would get another credit card so soon! I was so happy. My limit is only $300, but hey, that's enough right now. I just want to build my credit back up. I don't know if it will ever be where it once was, I hope so. But I'm so glad I learned a lesson from filing BK. I learned how important credit really is, and if your credit is shot, you can't get anything. I plan to use my Orchard to go out to eat once a month. I know it won't do any good to help re-build my credit if I don't use it, so I'm just going to use it here and there and pay it off every month. After not having any credit cards for about 3 years, it felt so incredible to finally have another one in my hand.....and to know I was approved felt even better! I guess there is life after BK.

As for my friend who is filing, I don't suppose she will be approved for an Orchard account. She is filing on a Bowflex machine she got several years ago, and Household bank finances Bowflex accounts. Oh well...maybe she can get credit through someone else.

FLORIDAGIRL - Watch out for fallout posts with the your last comment. Some have "bolts". If you get my drift?
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

Why, it wouldn't be too shocking if I got a fallout post.

Look at the thread I started. Talking about going off topic....

Nope nothing negative on any of the three credit reports except the original bankruptcy, so I just don't get it. Oh well Capital One likes me so I am happy.

Cap One sent me two of those 'you're preapproved' offers in the mail last week. I went ahead and sent one in just to see what happens. The inquiry already showed up at Experian and didn't impact my credit score at all.

If I get it, I may use it sparingly to re-establish credit.

              If not, no biggie.

Thing is - someone earlier posted something that made sense to me - in theory we are a better risk after filing BK since we can't do it again for a number of years (not that I would ever want to).

Oh Lord I hope nobody sends my mom a card offer. I know it's only been a few weeks since she filed and started with her "budget" I put her on, but she's doing well! She's sticking to it even though it's hard! She'll have a few hundred saved up by the end of the year, this is the first time in her life she has ever put money AWAY!! A new card offer and acceptance would only destroy it!

I was going to offer any "help" I could to her (if she needs something she can't afford) but I don't have the money either, and I know she can't pay me back. But if she's successful in putting money away, when something comes up, she'll be ready!! It's so exciting to me.. I can't believe she has listened to me, and it's WORKING!! I don't want anything to get in the way of that. I know she's an adult, and that's what makes things hard. If only I could keep creditors from offering credit to her, I would!
