I sold something on eBay and I'm not sure what to do...

I sold an item on ebay as a favor for my ex over the weekend (a $300 sporting good item). I received payment through Paypal and withdrew the money to give to him. When I called him to let him know the item sold he told me to keep the money. You see, I recently found out that I have to pay $2,000 for my 2008 income taxes because our divorce was finalized eight days too soon. He told me to keep the money and put it toward what I owe the IRS because he feels bad about my tax situation.

I filed my BK last Thursday. He gave the item to me over the weekend, I listed it as a fixed price listing and it sold right away. Now I have this payment showing into my Paypal account for $300, the ATM withdrawal and now I have the cash. Do I need to let my attorney know about this? All of this also jogged my memory because I didn't list my Paypal account as a bank account (not sure that it is) because I haven't received any payments in 7-8 months.

Should I do anything with this? I have nothing to hide and I want to do the right thing without creating a problem. I can amend my documents and exempt the money I made from the sale if need be.

You didn't sell your property, you sold his. His property is not part of your BK estate.

Yeah, but the cash is now mine and I have a paper trail in my Paypal account for it. I just don't want this to somehow affect my BK.

You already filed. You can make money after you file, people can give you money. 300.00 isn't a lot. You are not supposed to sell your assets, so if you did and you were an asset case, then you might have an issue, you sold someone elses asset and they paid you a fee for your service.
