What to wear/not wear to the 341?

Well, after reading about the other post about the undressing for the metal detectors...you've scared me!

I'm assuming casual business would be appropriate, even down here in FL. But, do I wear my wedding ring & nice earrings or will they want to cash them in? If they see an ankle bracelet or regular bracelet, will I get questioned?

I was supposed to sign the CH. 7 last night but had to work late. Tonight's the night. I have to go pay the electric bill before it gets turned off prior to my signature on the dotted line.

Obviously, now I'm assuming I just can't pocket my jewelry on the way in to the meeting.

How do they look at people in regards to your accessories?

Or is this just a really dumb question?

thats not a dumb question. I wouldn't over accessorize lol. Just dress like you said Business casual. I wore a nice pair of denim jeans with a polo shirt and I would say that was the norm at my 341. I doubt they will mess with the wedding ring. But like I said I wouldn't over do it. Good luck!!

Just be as conservative as possible - you'll be fine. GF had inexpensive earrings on, no other jewelry. She did have to remove her heels and send 'em thru the x-ray machine.

After I had to go through the metal detector the 3rd time, I told her it was a good thing her underwires didn't set off the machine!

I'll be wearing what I wear to work (business casual) as I'll be going to work after. DH will probably be wearing what he wears to work also (khaki's & work shirt) as he'll be getting off work just before. Don't know if he'll have time to change...

The metal detectors are peculiar. Why not, just not wear any jewelry. IF you have to take something off, then you have to put it on, that will add to your anxiety. I only wore my wedding band. Just a suggestion.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

Had my 341 today in Los Angeles. The meeting room is in a separate office building about ten blocks from the courthouse, so there's no metal detectors or any of that. I left my camera phone in the car because I know you can't take those into a courthouse, but I could have taken it with me.

Some people were dressed professionally, others looked like they took the afternoon off of a construction job. There was one woman that looked like she was ready to go dancing at a club somewhere.

The trustee really didn't pay any attention to what anyone was wearing.

The Trustee made a comment about my $200 watch at my 341 but really didn't make a big fuss. What you don't want to show is opulence so I would agree that neat and conservative would be the way to go. Good luck.

DH and I wore jeans/leggings and T-shirts (that's all we had, and someone actually bought my leggings FOR me -- that's how bad off we were ). No jewelry whatsoever, even though we did have our wedding rings and a 1/4ct diamond anniversary band at home).

Nothing was said about our appearance, but a lot of the people were dressed more nicely than we were.

My guess is some people intentionally dress down, to look worse off than they are. I think that could backfire-make the trustee dig a little deeper. If you're being honest, there is no need to put on a show. Regarding jewelry, etc... I'm assuming that most of us don't have major assets that we're trying to hide. If you have NONE listed for jewelry, and you wear an expensive ring, necklace, etc. to the 341, the trustee likely will notice.

Smart move. Why would you do something so seemingly dumb? A $200 watch?

Why thank you lightning. Perhaps you should change your name to enlightening.

The $200 watch was purchased five years ago. It isn't a Rolex or anything fancy. Had I thought a comment would have been made about a 5 year old watch i wouldn't have worn it. The watch and it's owner have been discharged and are doing fine.

Its your watch Marko56, wear it in good health.
Advice is one thing, but can't it be given in a helpful manner? Yes, sometimes the threads are a little slim in the facts column and it is hard to know exactly what the person is asking or if all the relevant information is there to make an informed guess.
Most of us know why we are here and in my case it is to vent and seek advice. We have all done "dumb" things, we also don't need to be reminded of them either. That is in the past, you can't change that. Lightening for the most part we appreciate your version of advice, can we keep the sarcasm out.
I would send you a private message but you don't take those. Are you a internet voyer?

A money savvy person like you should know that a $200 watch is not really a $200 watch. It is more like a $20 watch, should you want to sell it on eBay. Now, a $20,000 Rolex with diamonds around the rim -- THAT I would not wear to a 341 hearing.

I think a $200 watch purchased about 5 years ago (nothing against your watch Mark056, only trying to make a point) probably isn't worth close to that if you were to try and sell it now. On our forms it asked you the yard sale or fair market value, SOif I were to want to buy a watch (that was gently used) I would either buy a new one or it would have to be a heck of a steal (no pun intended)and it would have to be worth alot more than $200. (as an investment) Beside, did anybody ask Mark056 where he got the watch from.
Why would a person go to yard sales, etc. to look for a bargain.
I am sure that the trustee noticed Mark056's watch and maybe wondered how new it was etc? maybe he just liked it? Who cares? Its Mark056's watch.
Dressing to the hilt because you want to look nice is not a problems. (leave the larger diamonds and furs at home) Be yourself.
Wear clean, decent clothes. I'd leave off the jewelry costume or not only because of the metal detectors, when they go off it is embarrassing and you are nervouse enough without that happening to you. (kinda like getting stopped for a speeding ticket in front of your church,).
Some people just need to get a grip with reality.
