    Trustee Question

    Hello All,

I've just filed for Chapt 7 in Iowa.

I have a relatively simple question pertaining to the Chapt. 7.

How does the Trustee actually collect any assets? Do they require you to bring them in, or do they show up at your house or the place where the asset is and just go through things until they find what they need?

Bringing non-exempt assets in to the Trustee will not pose a concern, as I allready have means to do this.

    Now the concern I have:

The main reason I ask is that the few assets that I have are at more than 1 location; my parents house, and a storage shed.

I would simply like to provide a little common courtesy to my parents and the storage shed owner in the way of advance notice, if the Trustee does in fact come to my location to retrieve assets.

In the same matter, I'd like to extend the same courtesy to the Trustee by having everything non-exempt ready to go for them, so as not to take up more of their time than necessary.

I'm new to Bankruptcy in as a whole, so I'd appreciate any information on this matter.

    Thanks Everyone!

This is a good question. This is just my guess, but I'm sure you'll be able to work that out with the trustee. It can likely be discussed at the 341.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.
