Change health plans while in Chp 7?

    Hi all,

I will run this by my lawyer next week, but wanted some quick thoughts from the gang here:

    *Have insurance at my job
*Wife is NOW eligible for benefits at her job
    *Wife has better insurance
*Can I drop her from my insurance?
*I would save $200 per month
*I qualify for chp 7 via means test by about $1500 right now

Just didn't know if the court would care if my deductions suddenly changed? I know BK is a backward looking situation, but thought someone here would have some experience or educated thoughts. I wouldn't think about this right now, but I will have to wait for open enrollment again next year if I dont do this now.

Discuss with your attorney. Also ensure there is no "working spouse" penalty involved; many insurance companies are adding that charge for employees. Say you carry the insurance for the family and your spouse works but stays on your plan. Your Plan can charge you a fee each payday (Like $25 or $50) because it costs your insurance company more to insure your spouse than if the spouse took the insurance at their workplace to ensure himself/herself. The same is also occuring for dependent children. There could be a fee charged if you put the kids on your insurance policy and your spouse works and can also get insurance and insure the children. These fees are becoming more and more common in the workplace for employees.
