The fines for my parking tickets were sent to a collection agency in the state that I live in(Maryland). Are they dischargeable now that they are at a collection agency.The tickets were for expired parking meters.

Nope, non discahrgeable. 523(a)(7). How they choose to collect the debt does not effect the dischargeability. -
If they are tickets from Baltimore City the initial ticket amount would not be dischargeable. But the monthly $8 per month additional fine can be discharged. You would still have to pay the original ticket amount.Comment

Yes they are from Baltimore City.Oh I don't mind paying the original ticket amount the tickets total a little over a $100 but are now at $1500 because of fines.Filed Ch 7 Petition: 03/24/09
