    If you Surrendered your vehicle

So... we originally intended on keeping our car... but the transmission died and we just cant afford to fix it. We got an opportunity to get a decent used car and NO CAR PAYMENT..

My question is.. if you surrendered your car... did it show up on your credit report as a repossession (voluntary or not) or did it show up as included in bankruptcy??

If you surrender your vehicle in BK, the tradeline is supposed to read iib and zero balance.

If it reads anything else (like repo/surrender) then you challenge it with the CRA's. Once you go through this process you will see you need to correct wrong reporting as the creditors do not take care with your information. All of your discharged debt is to report as iib and zero balance. No history should report after the filing date, unless the debt was reaffirmed. Anything prior to filing that is correct remains.
